Embracing natural skincare with Milla Maddern

In a time when our skincare and body products are often full of unnatural chemicals and ingredients we just don’t need, it’s always really refreshing to find a brand that embraces natural skincare.

At The Upcoming, we were pretty excited to stumble across Milla Maddern, a natural skincare brand from Somerset. The brand was originally started because founder, Jane Maddern, began by making her own handmade soap in 1995. She used the traditional cold press method and discovered a knack for combining essential oils. It was from this that she realised she could perhaps do this for a living and in 1997 Jane Maddern Handmade Soaps was created. 

Using her experience and knowledge, she has recently created Milla Maddern in co-operation with her stepdaughter Camilla. 

The brand has so far produced a few different products using its natural ethos and one of these include handmade soap. Their handmade soap is made using the cold press method and this allows the soap to retain all of its ingredients and keeps the product the best it can possibly be. Made with goats’ milk, organic Shea butter, jojoba and Manuka honey, these soaps would be fantastic for any skin type, especially sensitive. 

Other products in their range include body cream, body wash, hand cream and also liquid soap, but if you are perhaps looking for a selection of products, they also offer gift sets. They have four “families” of products which include Sensuality, Vitality, Tranquility and Harmony. 

As it’s now the time of year when the weather is cold, dull and our skin is in need of a boost, we particularly love the Sensuality gift set. 

With a really reasonable price tag of £35.00, the gift set contains one of each of the products that Milla Maddern offer and is a great gift for someone who has sensitive skin or simply loves to pamper themselves!

Milla Maddern is a great independent brand and it’s really lovely to think of all the products being handmade up in the Mendip Hills in Somerset – giving the brand a really homely feel.
