Upcycled jewellery from Dirty Librarian Chains
Since 2004, eco-friendly jewellery brand Dirty Librarian Chains has been creating its statement pieces from vintage materials. Through using materials that are already in existence, the pieces manage to not only look unique, but to also tell a story whilst helping to maintain a good environment. We couldn’t ask for our jewellery to be any more interesting and intricate.
The creator of the brand, Susan Domelsmith, is a real nature lover, which puts more emphasis on her need to use upcycled materials. Traipsing through old jewellery factories, she finds her components to make her DLC pieces, described as having “rough elegance”. Susan said her collection “pays homage through giving old components new life”. We love that something contemporary can be made from something with ounces of history.
The collection itself is very earthy, with vibes of Aztec, myth and culture running through each piece. The designs range from bracelets and brooches, to the more unusual glasses chains and guitar straps.
These Alpine drop earrings are just beautiful. The mix of brass and silver is a great combination and would be great to wear to an evening event with an LBD. The earrings also come wrapped in vintage dictionary paper, which we think is just such a sweet touch.
If you want to make a real statement, then you should check out this Frequency necklace. Layered with chains and charms, this would be a real go-to piece for a party or celebration. A real “where did she get that necklace from” piece and we just love the little gold leaf charm.
These great pieces would be ideal for a friend, or a great hint for an anniversary present for you!
