Ellie Goulding at Terminal 5
British pop sensation, Ellie Goulding, performed her second show at New York City’s Terminal 5 venue last night. Selling out not one but two nights in a row, she did not disappoint.
Fans queued up early on the freezing winter night to see her perform at the famous music hall. Ellie has made it big in the states with her music playing on countless commercials, TV shows and certainly topping the music blogosphere of “acts to watch out for.” What really put her on the map and perhaps crossed her over into mainstream music was having her latest single Anything Could Happen featured on a “Beats by Dre” headphones commercial, accompanied by the likes of Lil’ Wayne, Lebron James, and MGK dancing to her song.
Her first album Lights caught the public’s notice in America and her sophomore album Halcyon has garnered a lot of attention. Surely the petite blonde from Lyonshall has become an international star. Following the opening act, St. Lucia (another act to watch out for), the crowd’s anticipation was palpable on the final night of the New York leg of Ellie Goulding’s American tour. Stepping out into the cheering crowd and the bright spotlights wearing a yellow t-shirt, leather shorts and beanie, she fit the role of a future pop superstar.
She began her set with Don’t Say a Word from her Halcyon record, and traded her dance moves for an acoustic guitar for next song Guns and Horses. Playing many fan favorites like Only You and Anything Could Happen she ended the set with Starry Eyed to a singing crowd. Ellie came back to encore with I Need Your Love and Lights. Terminal 5 has three levels, all of which were packed, and people were fighting for viewing space to catch a glimpse of the British singer.
