From sensual to playful, Oroblu proves tights can make an outfit spectacular
Stereotypically, Italians are considered loud, flashy and sometimes bold, and whilst this can occasionally seep into their clothing (Prada’s socks and sandals, anyone?) Oroblu’s new autumn/winter ‘13 collection is not the case.
Taking a seat to watch the catwalk, the one thing we expected was a nipple slip. However, what we saw instead was beautiful legwear, elegant body shapers and delicate tube tops.
Brimming with sophistication and seduction, Oroblu kicked off the show with its aptly named Precious Collection, earning an immediate murmur of “wow, that’s nice” from the audience. In particular, the Annika tights proved popular, as they featured beautifully crafted lace flowers and leaves. However, where the Annika was sweet and feminine, the Margaret legwear was sexy yet classy, as it boasted fishnet tights adorned with delicate bows. Utterly sensual and glamorous, the Precious Collection is ideal for those future Christmas parties.
On the other hand, the Ambra tights from the Opulence Collection encase winter in its rawest form. Gothic black meets 80s-style slashes outlined in a thick, lightning silver colour. The tights make a strong statement as do their sister, the Layla leggings. Reminiscent of the English Baroque period, the Layla is incredibly detailed, its thick dusty gold pattern hosting roses amongst a plethora of other inviting floral shapes.
However, it was Oroblu’s bold Moda Collection that arguably stole the show, and it seemed Alice in Wonderland was a possible inspiration for the Aisha and Edith tights – mustard yellow with recurring diamonds outlined in streaks of green and blue. The Aisha was breath-taking and captivating, giving the illusion that numerous eyes were staring back at you as you gazed wantonly upon them. Although the Edith was a simpler affair, the tights screamed “Dennis the Menace” and “criminal,” as powerful red and black mixed equally with white and black.
But Oroblu does not discriminate, as they showed off their younger Miss Oroblu Collection, featuring the tartan Shake tights and mustard Report tights, littered with various letters and mathematical signs.
Oroblu’s autumn/winter 2013 collection is, overall, stunning. The legwear is so varied that everyone will find a favourite, and the body shapers from the company’s Bodywear Shape Collection are as sensational as can be (hint: check out the Culotte high waist body shaper, which combines French knickers with a G-string look to help create the perfect fit.) In the future, the label will introduce its swimwear range to the UK, meaning more gorgeous items for your wardrobe.
