Jewellery’s bare bones from Heidi Gardner
American artist Heidi Gardner was born in Buffalo, New York, and first trained as a ballerina before going onto painting as well as creating her beautiful and mysterious jewellery collection. Using a variety of metals, Heidi designs a mixture of rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants inspired by animal and human skeletons, creating intricate and unusual pieces with a wonderfully macabre nature.
Ranging from a brass necklace at $120 to a rose gold and black diamond ring at $4,800, your budget can be a little or a lot, yet all items exude luxury and seem to be crafted with the highest of care, to create pieces that evoke a high end designer feel whilst still supporting an independent artist.
She also offers customers the rare treat of commissioning his/her own piece by completing a short questionnaire about their preferences and personality, in order to give them a bespoke item that fits into their style as well as their price range.
Heidi explains: “This penchant for the macabre and lurid was honoured through [my] adoration of Hieronymus Bosch, Salvador Dali, Otto Dix and Alfred Kubin…combined with a passion for vintage thriller films such as The Shining, A Clockwork Orange and The Exorcist”.
So next time you or a loved one are on the hunt for a classic and quality piece with a darker side, look no further than Heidi Gardner and purchase something truly unique.
