NYFW – Nicholas K A/W 2013 collection
You made it. You have landed. Your feet are on the ground and now you can take a moment to catch your breath and scan the world around you. You are here in Lincoln Center, at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show in New York City, watching Nicholas K’s A/W 2013 collection. And where are the two designers Nicholas and Christopher Kunz taking us this year? What is this place they are proposing to us? Do you hear the primordial sounds connecting us to something so familiar we cannot even remember what it is or where it comes from? Where did we land? Is it a desert? A wasteland?
Goggle wearing, stone-faced beings with ice-sharp eyes walk with utter determination carrying the aura of post-apocalyptic survivors or tireless nomads propelled forward only by their own vision, dreams, and desire to be. Beings wrapped in layers of muted earth colours suggesting natural elements such as sand, moss, graphite and coal. Soft, flowing fabrics and knits exhale a spacious and breezy elegance. Hoods, for both men and women, bring a touch of cosy and yet rebellious introversion to the collection.
The clothes seem to breathe every breath; they seem to be ready to adapt to any and all conditions of the moment. Everything tells a story of adventure, survival, and journeying; everything is imbued by a sense of chic lightness and fluidity.
Congratulations to Nicholas K, for a wonderful A/W 2013 collection!
