NYFW – Son Jung Wan A/W 2013 collection
With creamy velvet tones and leathers upon leathers, Son Jung Wan creates the perfect mix of Eskimo and diva this fall. With a progressive flow from beige to more daring tones of purple and blue, this collection, aimed towards retelling the children’s fairytale of Goldilocks, captured the audience as the outfits merged into a story.
Models with braided golden Goldilocks locks crushed the runway in ethereal tones and patterns such as the magnified organza flowers and watercolour prints.
Son Jung Wan shows off her innate ability to decorate and embellish through her careful draping and sequins work. On a soft beige and gold shirt dress, gold details frame the waist so as to bring in the gentle fabric to a more womanly curve. However, from the designer of Korean decent, nothing is too loud or eccentric. According to her website, the designer’s aesthetic is “modern and chic” and “elegant and sexy”. Son Jung Wan works off the romantic and brings to life its modern fashion embodiment.
Progressively edgier looks came out nearer to Son Jung’s finale, but a stand-out was the velvet blue coat with tailored blue skinny pants. The fur hood added the extra “oomph” to top off the look, but remained simple and true to Son Jung’s classy and romantic view.
Attendees such as Brooke Shields dreamt alongside Son Jung, as they watched the children’s fairytale vision turn into a reality.
