Daria Karaseva: From bridal wear to ready to wear
People who design and create bridal wear are really skilled individuals. When they turn their hand to ready-to-wear, there is bound to be beautiful detailing in their clothes.
Daria Karaseva is from Russia originally, and was intrigued by fashion from a very young age. She would redesign clothes that she found in her parents’ wardrobe, and this led to a passion for designing and making clothes. In 2005, she moved to the US to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer.
She began her studies under a master bridal seamstress. After learning all that she could, she started working on her own collection. Her first collection featured bridesmaid dresses, and after a couple of years she returned to her roots by designing a ready-to-wear line.
The detailing in Daria’s clothing is amazing. Her clothes drape really well and she adds detail to a simple item to make it that bit different. A draped shirt can be made to fit your size, and you can also pick the colour. The biker jacket isn’t like all the others you see on the high street. The zip details on the sleeves, the belt, the studs and even the length will make you stand out from the crowd.
Daria believes in bringing two worlds together and creating unique, beautiful pieces of wearable ready-to-wear. Her collection is suitable to wear every day and doesn’t look cheap. She combines European elegance with American exuberance, and makes the garments from luxurious fabrics with light touches of detailing. What is really great is that Daria allows you to pick your colour on some of the items, as well as offering a choice of fabrics that items are made from.
Daria tends to be inspired by what is around her, such as music, movies, nature, etc. So what inspired her latest collection? “The current collection was inspired by geometric shapes and figures.”
The perfect example of this is the faux leather jacket. The triangular leather patches add something extra to the herringbone jacket. She also offers to make the jacket in suede and faux leather.
Daria may have created bridal wear but her strength definitely lies in ready-to-wear.
