NYFW – Adeam A/W 2013 collection
Adeam is a luxury brand founded in 2011 by Tokyo native Hanako Maeda. Adeam is about infusing art and wearability into her collection. Twenty-first century Japan is defined by its ability to make venerable traditions harmonise with the cutting edge: it is both a land of history and a laboratory where the future is imagined. Adeam draws its inspiration from this duality.
The A/W 2013 collection show was held at The Box stage at Lincoln Center where models posed against a fairytale-like misty forest backdrop. The collection was a fine display of wearable luxury for the upcoming A/W season. Models sported wavy mussed-up hair and natural make-up. They stood atop black and midnight blue wooden heel booties. The clothing lacked colour and stayed in a darker neutral territory, but the attention to details and luxurious fabrics, (like mink and leather) made up for the lack of brightness in the collection. The few pops of colour used included a beautiful burgundy mink vest over a burgundy asymmetric cable knit sweater, matching leather skirt and black shoes or the stunning burgundy pea coat worn over a wood print silk wool romper. Why aren’t we wearing rompers into the fall season? Adeam managed to get summer staple and move it into a very wearable situation for the cooler weather in beautiful silk wool.
Another Adeam trendsetting style was the leather leggings under a dress look, seen a few times in the collection under a charcoal tweed A-line dress and a burgundy silk tulip dress. It seems that Adeam is not afraid of challenging the norm! Her funky fashion-forward style is actually very wearable! We can see more than just a few fall trends coming from this amazing fashion brand.
