NYFW: Susan Woo A/W 13 catwalk show
Pier 59 Studios was where Susan Woo unveiled her fall 2013 collection: Jane Bond.
It was all about the strong woman with a touch of romance, a role we’d like to think a lot of women play day-to-day. She wanted to show you her muse. “It’s about a fairy tale and she’s the damsel in distress. She’s in a bind, but instead of that traditional story of waiting, she sees her situation and she’s like, ‘I’m going to save myself!’” said Woo.
La Roux’s I’m Not Your Toy blasted from the speakers as her models cascaded down the runway in leather pants, high-waist skirts and touches of sheer in tasteful places. Her pant suits showed a woman’s curves with the appropriate amount of menswear added to it.
She succeeded in her quest to present a strong, romantic woman with this collection of flowing yet structured pieces. Even the colours of black, white, and burgundy tied into her theme and it all came together in such a cohesive manner; that one can only applaud Woo for her mastery of getting an experience conveyed to the consumer.
