Combining technology and fashion, Alexander Wang meets Samsung
Wait until you hear about this brand new collaboration with a difference! American-born designer Alexander Wang has teamed up with worldwide electronics brand Samsung for his latest piece.
Taking full advantage of modern technology, he has decided to embrace creativity at its most by allowing others to have an input into the development of his most recent handbag. Wang is most typically known for his casually cool yet edgy style and more recently became the creative director of global fashion emporium Balenciaga.
Samsung is a brand at the forefront of modern cutting edge technology and its latest device doesn’t disappoint. Using the new Samsung Notebook II’s unique create-and-share benefit, Wang has called upon his nearest and very dearest: special friends, photographers and stylists all have an input into his latest creation. Wang says, “I am most inspired from my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting.
Wang has stated he will collate these images to create one collectively inspired final print, which will then appear on a limited edition bag. He says, “I love the challenge of resolving something from the unexpected.” It’s to be sold in key markets worldwide to raise funds for Art Start, a nationally recognised award-winning charity that uses art to nurture the creative talents of at-risk children. Here at The Upcoming we think it’s a recipe guaranteed for success!
So, not only is it pushing the boundaries by combining modern technology and fashion, it’s also for an amazing cause. Wang can do no wrong in our eyes and we just can’t wait to see the bag!
