London Fashion Week got off to a stunning and stylish start this morning, with an electric atmosphere. These vibes followed through into Zoe Jordan’s collection, with subtle hints from the 80s. For the past couple of seasons, Zoe has taken us to Spain, and even to Africa, however, the destination today was Italy.
Neon pinks, vibrant orange pants, shirts and knitwear all played a key part in the show. Aside from the bright colours that have us nostalgic for the electric 80s, the other half of the pallet consisted of monochrome magic. Oversized white jackets, black leather snakeskin effect pants and a tailored black jacket, worn with a white shirt with a contrasting white collar all appeared on the catwalk. Hints of red were also brought into the mix, with a bright red leather skirt. Mixing of fabrics and textures continued through from New York Fashion Week.
Tartan made an appearance, alongside the prevalent monochrome. It came down the runway in the form of tailored trousers, short pleated skirts, and most memorable of all, a long, tartan coat. Evidently, tartan is an emerging trend this season – so we’ll be keeping an eye out for this to sneak into our wardrobes! The models’ make-up was kept to a minimum with a natural glow, while the hair was tied into messy ponytails.
On the front row, attendees included Diana Vickers – girlfriend to Burberry model and singer George Craig – and Amanda Byron. After the show, we managed to get five minutes with Diana, and asked her opinion on the collection: “It’s similar to the last show, but that’s good. I’m all about women’s suits at the moment, so it was definitely to my taste.”
Overall, the Zoe Jordan show was an eclectic taste of the 80s, with the guarantee that we won’t be bored this autumn/winter with the bright colours and textures!
