LFW – Mark Fast A/W 2013 collection
The 10th floor of the ME Hotel on the Strand was transformed into a lavish and lucid catwalk presentation on Sunday afternoon as Mark Fast displayed his A/W 2013 collection. Huge glass windows, which gave a panoramic view of London’s skyline, allowed the wintery English sunshine to pour through into the show space, lighting it up in anticipation of the new collection.
Titled Through the Darkness, models portrayed a clash of romance and darkness through a palette of black, delicate pinks and striking red. Paying tribute to costume designer Eiko Ishioka, the designs in this collection represented Ishioka’s vision of grotesque glamour in films. The way in which Fast has created his pieces for A/W 2013 is an ode to this and as always truly magnificent pieces of work.
Knitwear and capes draped over full length dresses were completed with interesting headpiece and legwear. There was a definite sense of eeriness about the designs and yet they were still elegant in a completely inimitable way. Fringing and feathering screamed style, with bold shades of magenta making you fall in love with Fast’s work all over again.
Eelko Moorer was also used in a collaboration to design footwear for the collection, resulting in shoes that created an epic contrast of frailty and ruthlessness.
