Handbags for Hospices
Fancy bagging a celebrity handbag for as little as £5, and do your bit for charity?
Well, that’s exactly what you can do, thanks to Handbags for Hospices. The organisation has teamed up with celebrities such as Paloma Faith, Gemma Arterton , Davina McCall and Zoe ball, who have kindly donated their unwanted designer handbags to help raise money for UK hospices.
At present, there’s a Mulberry Lily bag up for grabs, and all you have to do to be in for the chance of winning is purchase a £5 raffle ticket online.
There will be a silent auction taking place at the Hotel Du Vin, Brighton, on Thursday 28th February, where hundreds of bags have been donated by both celebrities and the general public from brands such as Mulberry, Hermes, Miu Miu, Tods, Gucci, Longchamp and more; bidding starts from £10.
The Handbags for Hospices charity is the brainchild of friends Abigail Bowen and Lucy Wilkes, who ran their first event in March 2012, attracting 50 women and over 100 handbags, raising £2,000 for the Martlets Hospice, where Abigail’s father was cared for.
Since then, the charity has gone from strength to strength, as it urges the public to get involved to help support hospices nationwide.
You can get involved in the cause by donating your good quality handbags, bidding on a bag on one of their forthcoming events, holding your own Handbag for Hospices event and support your chosen hospice, or become a donation station, collecting bags to donate from family and friends.
