LFW – JW Anderson A/W 2013 collection
In 2012, we saw Irish designer JW Anderson awarded with the title of Emerging Talent Award – Ready-to-Wear. In 2013, he gave doubters – if any – reason to believe why.
With a sell-out collection at Topshop and overseas attention from publications like Vogue, Anderson is creating his own fashion spotlight. His autumn/winter 2013 collection boasted many a ruffle, grid prints and the perfect balance of femininity and masculinity that is fast becoming Anderson’s niche market.
Hues of grey, black, whites and pastels dominated, although there were still injections of bold colour with a burnt-orange crinkled skirt and a canary-yellow pleated top. Chunky enamel bangles and neck-pieces featured throughout the show, as well as quilted purses and patent boots.
Hair was kept simple, with side parts and polished, low ponytails, allowing the garments to speak for themselves. Models were fresh-faced, with groomed brows and nude lips, complementing the modern approach of the line effortlessly.
Anderson started designing for women two seasons ago, so he is still very new to this playing field. Judging by his A/W 2013 line, we can expect to see many more unique looks that will no doubt influence the way modern women dress.
Front-row celebrities at the show included Azelia Banks and Alexa Chung.
