LFW – Nina Naustdal A/W 2013 collection
Set in a grand room of Baku, Sloane Street, London, on Monday 18th February, the A/W 2013 Nina Naustdal show wowed all who were watching. With grand chandeliers and high ceilings, the perfect scene was set for the elegance that is Nina Naustdal’s latest collection.
On arrival, we were treated to a viewing of the showroom at Baku. An array of beautiful clothes and accessories by designers: Nico Didonna, Karen K, Pink Powder, Morella Sassoon, My Mink, Paolita, Pritch London and My Love My Leggings were all displayed.
A full room gathered to view the show itself. To David Guetta’s Where Them Girls At, the show opened with eye-catchingly bright colours. Nina Naustdal quoted “My inspiration was powerful, independent women” and there is no doubt that this vision has come across in the fabrics. Flowing animal print was met with leather panels and large butterfly collars, giving the feminine dresses that powerful edge.
A modern paisley print was showcased in emerald green and orange in the same silky fabric, but these looks included contrasting silhouettes in shirts, jackets and trousers. These pieces, however, were still extremely elegant with shirts being given loose bell-bottomed sleeves and jackets a small peplum, making this whole collection overtly womanly.
With celebrity guests such as Pandemonia, MIC’s Louise Thompson and Sinitta along the front row, Nina Naustdal’s A/W13 collection was a huge success. The combination of tribal prints, shocking colours and flowing skirts presented in such a graceful way is enough to make anyone’s jaw drop. If there’s anything we want to be wearing in A/W, it’s this bold, bright print.
