PFW – Moncler Gamme Rouge A/W 2013 collection
We were whisked away to the arctic during the Moncler Gamme Rouge autumn/winter show. Huskies and polar bears were the new accessory, and there wasn’t a single look that wouldn’t keep you warm whilst still looking chic if you were to be six feet deep in snow.
A variety of ways in which to look cool in the cold were showcased at the show, with big fur coats in a variety of prints and colours being sent down the runway. A key theme for this fall is the over-sizing trend, and this was seen at Gamme Rouge in shades that almost looked identical to that of the dogs that accompanied some of the models down the catwalk. Flecks of leopard print (or snow leopard?) were added in, to give a chic twist to the gorgeous fur. We also saw an enhancement of waists, with added fur panels to the lower half of the coat to give more volume, and perhaps even more warmth!
Halfway through the show, guests were surprised as a model came down the catwalk in definite style – clinging onto a zip wire! Perhaps indicating that the designs are suitable for a skiing holiday…? After followed a variety of more practical, oversized puffa coats in black, white and red, all complete with fur hoods and make-up to give a “freezing cold, I’ve-just-spent-hours-in-the-snow” look. After the practical, plain coloured coats, we saw some checks – also another hot trend for this winter – in the form of a cape and body suit.
The glamour of the show came when models were sent down the runway looking like modern day snow queens with a no-nonsense attitude. The off-white fur and puffa jackets were adorned with stunning, sparkly crystals which just added to the ice-cold effect. The models, wearing big smiles, also came arm in arm down the catwalk with polar bears!
While it is certain that the inspiration for this show was how to keep warm in the North Pole, we love the way Gamme Rouge added a chic and fun twist, on this last day of Paris Fashion Week.
