Opening Ceremony New York hosts a “RIHtrospective” celebrating seven years of Rihanna’s style

Love her or loathe her, Rihanna always gives us some good fashion inspiration. Whether she’s nailing a multitude of mini trends in one outfit or parading around in next to nothing but thigh high boots, Riri’s style statements have everybody talking, and with her constant social media updates you would have to be living under a rock not to know that Rihanna is a style icon for modern times.

Rihanna is celebrating seven albums in seven years plus seven Grammy’s and seven Billboard awards, and in recognition of this and all her general fabulousness, hip-shopping space Opening Ceremony in New York will be hosting a ‘RIHtrospective’. They will be exhibiting seven outfits worn by the star at major events and for performances. Adding a personal touch, the Bajan beauty helped to curate the exhibition.

On display will be the pink lace dress by Adam Selman that Rihanna wore when performing at the Victoria’s Secret show in 2012 and the dress she wore at this year’s Grammys with Bob Marley’s face emblazoned across it. Also to be seen are several looks from her River Island collaboration which she has been wearing consistently since the launch.

The show will be running for three weeks, until the end of March 2013, and can be combined with some healthy retail therapy as Opening Ceremony carry all the coolest brands from Acne to Proenza Schouler, as well as a host of up and coming designers. But don’t panic if you’re not going to New York anytime soon: stores can be found internationally with outposts in London, Los Angeles and a department store in Tokyo.
