Daniel Vosovic A/W 2013 presentation
Daniel Vosovic hosted his A/W 2013 collection inside the swanky W Hotel, over looking New York’s Union Square. It may have been warm and sunny outside, but it was certainly snowy inside the hotel’s Great Room. Models stood atop fake snow laden platforms in some gorgeous and very wearable Winter clothing.
“The collection began with a view of a modern day female aristocrat. This bold woman craves a colourful, textured look with a hint of rebellion, which has manifested into a deceptively simple collection, in both execution and detail.” – Daniel Vosovic.
He was inspired by silhouettes from the early 20th century, scuba diving gear and pieces from a boyfriend’s closet to achieve the surprising balance of form and function. The main colour story was filled with emeralds and blues, supported by hints of ivory, bordeaux and black served up in different shades and textures. He took an original digital print of aquatic brain coral, and mixed it with several fabric mediums including wool, modal, suede and leather to create his signature slim-slouchy silhouettes, a very fresh look.
Minimal accessories were used in the collection, as the clothing was statement enough. However we couldn’t get over the ridiculously trendy turquoise and black nails sported on the models. Or the cut out leather gloves worn by a few models which added a rebellious twist to the otherwise very lady like outfits. We saw a lot of high necklines, pencil skirts, sexy thigh-high tights, and peep-toe black booties. The models’ skins were kept pale, accentuated with a daring dash of black cherry lips.
Daniel Vosovic has come a long way since his days competing on Project Runway, but we are glad he has because we can’t wait to get our hands on some of these pieces next Fall!
