Introducing Miss à la Mode: personal shopping for young fashion lovers

With fashion slowly dominating the world and young budding entrepreneurs starting up their businesses at a very young age, it has come to our attention that Omolara Martins is no different when it comes to wanting to dominate the world.

New personal shopping site Miss à la Mode is Miss Martins’ first business venture, and after only having kicked off a few weeks ago, she is already having to deal with clients based in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and various other countries. The 19-year-old, who is currently studying retail business at the Fashion Retail Academy, claims the idea for her business came to her whilst she was discussing the idea of starting a company with her mother in their kitchen.

Introducing Miss à la Mode: personal shopping for young fashion lovers

Miss à la Mode only targets a specific age group: females from 15-30.

The reason why I target a specific target market is due to the fact that nobody has ever done this before. Currently, there are no similar services for fashionable young women of that age group who want to receive personal shopping and fashion concierge in the world. A lot of companies focus on older women aged 25 years and above, which excludes fashionable young women like myself and others. My service enables them to access some of the latest trends and fashion favourites directly to their home.”

The services offered by Miss à la Mode aren’t similar to those of many others. This means the company hasn’t encountered any competition, despite having only just started. “I don’t have much competition in the sense that it seems that no one is targeting the same age group. However, I have competition in the fashion concierge industry.”

When it comes to starting up your own business, we all know that it’s not an easy process. When Omolara mentioned what she thought was key to help people start up, she told us that nothing is more important than research. “Be prepared for hard work and be prepared to learn every day – I have learnt so much already! Be open to meeting new people and creating new relationships; you never know where it will it lead!”

If we have anything to learn from Omolara’s ambition, it is that nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. So if you want to start out a new business, or are even looking for a company to aid you in your shopping, be sure to check out Miss à la Mode!
