Press Day: Good Results autumn/winter 2013 collections
Good Results is a full service, boutique PR agency located in one of London’s trendiest areas and with an impressive client base including Becksondergaard, Zandra Rhodes Handbags and Little Mistress. We were excited to see what would be on show at their autumn/winter 2013 press day. Held in the penthouse of London’s quirky Sanderson Hotel, the collections included Eleven Paris and Pearly King.
Inspired by iconic rebels and the eras they belonged to – think The Rolling Stones or Marlon Brando – Pearly King have created a masculine and original men’s collection for A/W. Overflowing with uniquely individual denim shirts, jeans and distressed leathers; Pearly King’s collection is filled with the sort of gems you would expect to find in a cleverly hidden vintage shop – eclectic, cool and with a story behind every piece. This is certainly reflected in the way that their jeans are made using rope-dyed yarn and passed through several dye baths, meaning that because of wear and tear the jeans will develop a unique look, personal to their wearers.
Parisian label Eleven Paris are set to open their first UK store next week on London’s Carnaby Street in celebration of their 10th anniversary. Since launching in 2003, Eleven Paris has sought to bring a fun, rock ‘n’ roll flair to their collections and with Lenny Kravitz and Charlotte Free fronting their S/S’13 collection, they’ve raised the bar pretty high. Their menswear and womenswear collections for A/W didn’t disappoint. The women’s collection is a feast for the senses, with a range of fabrics from soft velvets to stiff leathers, gothic and brocade prints, vivid blues, bright oranges and sombre blacks. After the opening of their Carnaby Street store on the 15th April, any Londoner who isn’t already a fan of the label will be scrambling to get their hands on some of these pieces.
Eleven Paris’ menswear collection was more in line with their traditional offerings of quirky printed tees and sweatshirts but also played with a variety of textures and colours. Polo shirts and denim shirts were made three-dimensional with graphic designs and leather and suede patches. Traditionally casual items were given a sophisticated twist by mixing different fabrics on a single garment; in particular this was done incredibly well on a soft grey knitted jumper with leather sleeves making it a great day-to-night piece.
Since it launched in 1995, Swedish brand Twist & Tango has always sought to produce clothing that is feminine and stylish in its simplicity. Using the city of Paris as its inspiration for autumn/winter and with the tag line “Paris in our heart” setting the tone, what Twist & Tango produces is a romantic and effortless looking collection. Using black as a starting point, the palette grows to include navy blue, rich burgundy and Pantone colour of the year: emerald green. These flashes of colour help to intensify the kaleidoscope of black with the use of heavy embellishments, quilted leathers and textured knits.
