Stand Up for a Cure 2013 with Jerry Seinfeld at Madison Square Garden
The 2013 annual ceremony hosted by Rosanna Scotto was held on 17th April night at Madison Square Garden, NYC. The night evening was gorgeous and billowed of film, sport, and local New York celebrities. The Theater at concert and sports arena MSG was transformed into the luxury likeness of a theater off Broadway with red curtains and purple spotlights on stage.
As headlights went down, the event began with the focus for the cure and introduced by a short film of a boy who talked about living with diabetes. Medical awareness began over ten years ago and continues today. Diabetes is no longer among our young, but can develop late in adult life as well, and medical research is looking into its trigger signs. Diabetes goes beyond controlling sugar content, there is more to educate to lead to a cure.
As the night progressed with lengthy great humor skits from comedians Colin Quinn and Jerry Seinfeld, the audience grew and the seats were packed at the Garden. It was amazing to hear the laughter and clapping of patrons. Humor was relatable of course. Guest celebrities who were seated in the VIP area included Martha Stewart, NY Giants player Steve Weatherford, Olympic skater Sasha Cohen, Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, MTV host Lenay Dunn and many other television, film stars.
The evening came to an end reminding us of the importance and awareness of diabetes and the need to assist in its cure through medical research. Finally addressed were thoughts and prayers over recent tragedies in Boston, Sandy Hook, and Hurricane Sandy. In conclusion, there could have never been a better evening well deserved and needed.
