Fazane Malik at London High Street Fashion Week
This Friday marks the beginning of High Street Fashion weekend. This week’s long event features a pop–up boutique that is situated at Boxpark in London’s Shoreditch. This shopping paradise will be stocking the most on trend designs from a range of different names, and shoppers will be able to browse this pop–up boutique between 12pm and 5pm each day. Another exciting aspect of this coming weekend is the catwalk shows which are set to take place In Mayfair’s Aura each evening between 8pm and 9pm on 26th, 27th and 28th April. The shows will deliver the latest designs in high street couture from a range of retailers.
One of the exciting names set to make an appearance this Friday is Fazane Malik. Fazane is a designer from Derbyshire, and has recently declared that she is ready to make a stand for real women in fashion by using size 8 and size 12 models in her new autumn/winter 2013 collection. Fazane has worked with various designers in London as well as Australia, and is passionate about giving local designers a voice and a chance of success. Fazane wanted to prove that London isn’t the only home of designing, saying: “I could have taken my collection to London, but I wanted to come back to Derbyshire.”
Her current spring/summer collections include beautiful sheer textures and feminine colours, and incorporate the practical yet glamorous aspects of everyday fashion. Fazane is currently building a studio in Derbyshire, and hopes to rent this to other designers to promote creativity within the area. This exciting designer will be showcasing her fabulous pieces this Friday at Mayfair’s Aura during one of three catwalk shows this weekend.
This event is the first of its kind and is a very exciting way to give independent designers the opportunity to show off their designs through a high profile and busy fashion event. One events director for London High Street Fashion Week said that this event is “a fantastic opportunity for local small–scale designers who may not have the capital to invest in London Fashion Week”. High street Fashion Week offers these designers an affordable opportunity to get their designs out there.
