Kendra Phillip: a winning formula from Rhode Island
Rhode Island is known for having a successful textile industry, as well as manufacturing silverware. These industries have led to the duo Kendra Phillip creating a successful jewellery label.
Kendra Phillip was founded by lifelong friends, Kendra and Phil. Not many people have heard of the island where the pair comes from, but they would like to put it on the map. Kendra and Phil grew up on the beaches of Narragansett. Kendra comes from a design background and recently completed her Master’s Degree in Jewellery Design. She has worked at Calvin Klein and David Yurman in the past. Phil has a manufacturing background and has worked at his family’s metal manufacturing business since he graduated from college. They both founded the business two years ago and it’s still quite small compared to older and more established brands. However, if they continue to grow like they have done in the past two years, they will become a household name in the near future.
When you look through the collections, you see jewellery that is simple but effective. From the Wing Necklace to the Rosemary Stackable Ring or the Two-tone Tara Stud Earrings, their jewellery is classic, but it won’t date. These are pieces that in ten years’ time won’t look vintage. Kendra and Phil are continuously adding to their line so that it is new and fresh, but will also remain classic and timeless.
What the pair will probably become known for is their reversible necklaces. “Our two-tone, reversible, initial pendant is our signature look, originally designed for Phillip’s sister’s bridal party.” For example, this large Rilo Pendant Necklace will look great whichever side you choose to show off. What’s even better is that if it flips over by mistake, you can leave the opposite side showing as well.
So, as it is Kendra and Phil’s dream to put Rhode Island on the map, why don’t you help them along by visiting the website? Tell your friends about it. In a few years’ time when someone asks you what Rhode Island is famous for; you can turn round and say: “Kendra Phillip, of course.”
