Downton Abbey fashion collection to be released this year

Downton Abbey fashion collection to be released this year

If you are a Downton Abbey fan this news might just make your day. The popular TV programme has announced an official Downton Abbey clothing range inspired by designs featured on the show, and they will be released later this year.

To accompany the clothing line a collection of other products will be on offer so fans can look, feel and live the Grantham-Crawley lifestyle. “We’ll be working across an entire range of products…from fashion, homeware and furniture to wallpapers, beauty products and stationary,” explains Gareth Nearne, Downton Abbey‘s executive producer. That dream of sipping tea from the Dowager Countess of Grantham’s fine bone china teacup may be closer than you think.

Although the series first aired in the UK back in 2010, the shows producers have waited for America to fall for the show’s quintessential English charms before releasing merchandise. “It’s very rare for a British drama to have this much retail potential and merchandising value [in the US]”, says Nearne.

Unfortunately the Downton Abbey paraphernalia will be released by NBC in the US and there is yet to be a confirmation of a release in the UK. However, where there’s a will there’s a way and thanks to the world wide web, cheap flights and postage, you too could get your hands on a copy of one of Lady Mary Crawley’s dresses.
