Press Day: there’s something for everyone in the Bright Light PR showcase
Bright Light PR recently held a press day to display the new and unreleased collections from their clients. The Upcoming went along to find out what was on show.
The first rails we visited belonged to the ever stylish and effortless clothing company Land’s End. Their A/W 2013 collection is painted in rich autumnal colours of olive, aubergine and pumpkin, peppered with varied prints of all designs and colours.
Whether work-wear or weekend-wear the collection is feminine and suitable for a range of ages and shapes. Lightweight print blouses will brighten up any office outfit and the thick winter coats will keep warm and stylish, as the weather gets colder in the later months.
Broken into four collections the A/W ’13 offerings from Olsen are fresh and urban with a twist of feminine chic. The ‘Ornamental Park’ collection, available from June, is shaped by animal prints and brocade in a host of blue and green shades. ‘Clean cuts and graphic materials’ make up the Black and White collection set for a July release. Black biker jackets and leather-patched coats are softened and highlighted with lemon yellow and electric blue. August is set to see the Notting Hill collection, inspired by English elegance and equestrian sports. Faux fur and cable knit scarves in merlot and burgundy are contrasted with amber yellows. The final collection, Global Nomads will be available from September and is inspired by Japan and can be seen in the prints of geisha, dragons and blossom. The shades of brown, cognac and dusky pink will make an elegant addition to any wardrobe.
Danish label Second Female continues the chic trend with their A/W collection of minimalist and masculine articles. These chunky knits, bomber jackets and blazers are softened with the addition of graphic prints, baroque details and embellished chunky necklaces. Available from Anthropologie, John Lewis, Atterley Road and independent stores, Second Female is growing in popularity and has been tipped as one to watch.
Shapes Making Scents is the offering from Damsel in a Dress for the autumn/winter season. This label is known for its tailored look and this collection mixes this with a contemporary style creating dresses, outerwear and a capsule collection of casual separates.
Designed and produced in London, Closet takes its inspiration from the catwalk and creates sophisticated and feminine pieces aimed at fashionable women aged 20-40. Not only are their dresses beautiful and light they are all affordable as they can be found online and in Debenhams, Fenwick and Dorothy Perkins for less than £50.
To go with these outfits every woman needs some accessories and these were also available in abundance. Nat&Nin with French elegance to out winter wardrobes with a range of leather bags in a palette of stunning shades of purple, red, green and cool ambers and browns. From tiny purses to large weekend bags this range is beautiful and certainly worth checking out.
With a similar range of colours Simone Pérèle brings Glam Rock to out AW lingerie collections. Red, purple and black dominate this range of sexy but sophisticated underwear. Perfect for matching with the seasons clothing, Glam Rock will make any woman feel beautiful and feminine while wrapped up in winter coats.
Inspired by ethnic fabrics, brocades and tapestries the ‘Costume’ collection by hosiery staple Jonathan Aston will add a splash of colour and fun to any AW outfit. For those who are more daring the new High Voltage range features chains and garters alongside bondage-style prints and suspender belt effects – the perfect addition to add a touch of Mr Grey to any LBD. Always high quality and eye catching this label is a must for any fan of unusual tights and stockings.
The website Aspire Style brings us a little dash of everything with their collection feminine and fun dresses alongside some quirky and wonderful accessories and gifts. If you are looking for a vintage twist to your clothes or accessories this is certainly a website to check out. With prices suitable for all budgets you are sure to find something on here that you will like, don’t blame us if you get crushed under you ‘to buy’ list though.
Last, but not least, is the website LookAgain, offering not only the latest fashions in a range of wonderful clothes but also accessories, shoes and even home décor! The site offers a great outfit creation option in which you drag and drop articles onto the model like playing with paper dolls. This allows you to not only see the outfit before you buy but also adds up the coast of it neatly at the side. There’s even a similar service for home decoration!
