Cry tears of joy over Julian Zigerli’s A/W’13 collection
Set to conjure up nostalgic feelings of coming home and the release of letting something go, we delve into the subtle yet distinctive designs of Switzerland born designer Julian Zigerli. As he uses a signature print against an array of baggy bag packs, sweaters and uniquely tailored capes to cement his style in the fashion industry and propel us into the world of Happy Tears, his new A/W’13 Collection.
Positioned against a backdrop of a snowy cabin in the woods we witness Zigerli’s inspiration of sedate, slightly modest scenes fused with a youthful rebellious type of freedom and quirkiness described perfectly as being “reminiscent of the feeling of coming home and at the same time letting go”.
The distinct print thrown over coats, sweatpants and speedos is characterised as being “prints made from magnetised iron powder and inked veins” which “support the feelings of power, agitation and liberation”, and “contrast the languorous high‐quality materials and in turn deliver extreme comfort in winter through their practical functionality”.
We’re especially intrigued by the interestingly designed fur lined ‘plush shoes’ available in brown, black, pink and cream and the uniquely shaped ‘baggy bagpacks’ covered in the ’inked veins’ signature print.
Zigerli has creatively contrasted slick tailoring with striking prints and outlandish colours to create a well put together visually pleasing collection perfectly summed up as: “Tears of joy seize us suddenly and unexpected, whether we want them to or not. This Power is reflected in Zigerli’s collection. The harmonic assortment surprises with its practicality, details and colours that make ones pulse race.”
