Rooney Mara and Calvin Klein step “Down Town”
American Actress Rooney Mara has just landed her first beauty endorsement as the face of Calvin Klein’s new urban-themed scent, Down Town. The actress, who co-chaired this year’s Met Gala, has also been voted second on Vogue’s top 10 best dressed women of 2012 and would be an obvious choice for the design giant.
Mara started her acting career in 2005 in a remake of the cult horror A nightmare on Elm Street and continued her journey to success with a role in The Social Network. Her most recent work in an American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo established Mara’s a name in the movie industry.
It is mainly through her most recent role, which saw Mara teaming up with director David Flincher, that she has achieved recognition as an actress. Film and design industry critics gave positive reviews of Mara’s performance and radical style.
It is no wonder that Calvin Klein has chosen David Flincher to produce the scent’s TV Advertising campaign set to debut in July this year. The campaign will be a short film shot in New York telling the story of a young woman carving her own life in the city. It also features print ads shot by fashion photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
The floral, woody fragrance will be produced by Calvin Klein’s fragrance brand, Coty Prestige.
Coty’s SVP Catherine Walsh says that Down Town is “a fragrance for women that live by their own rules”. This cements Mara as the obvious choice, her style resonates with women in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties who know what they want and take risks to get there.
