Lisa King: industrial inspired scarves and delicate jewellery

Lisa King has released her first unisex collection of luxury accessories: Steel Flora. Inspired by a combination of hip-hop, industrial fixings and nature, King’s designs consist of simple shapes and colourful prints.

The Central Saint Martins graduate specialises in print design and has already worked with some of the fashion world’s biggest names, including Calvin Klein, DVF and Armani. Her Steel Flora collection of silk and cashmere scarves, leather bags and delicate jewellery is a juxtaposition of luxury and industry. King focuses on the head of a screw and uses repetition of the cross shape in exaggerated sizes and pop bright colours to form different patterns. In stark contrast to these bold structured shapes, King also plays with abstract Orchid prints in warm vivid tones and monochrome. Steel Flora has two pieces of jewellery; a matching necklace and bracelet, each with a delicate gold chain and a cluster of miniature gold plated nuts.

King is a great believer in supporting British manufacturing and so ensures all her pieces are made here in England. Something that was most important in the range’s leather goods. “To be honest, it was easy to find someone in London I could work with,” King tells the Metro, “and we have a long tradition in tailoring and some amazing craftspeople in the UK. I found some amazing leathermakers right here in the East End.”

The bag and wallet from Steel Flora is not only made of beautiful leather but has a personalised lining. For the large tote bag, customers have the option of choosing between a floral print or the Lisa King star logo for the bag’s lining and can also personalise it with their own initials.
