Marc Jacobs launches first make-up collection with Sephora
Marc Jacobs has collaborated with Sephora Originals to create Marc Jacobs Beauty, the company’s first ever make-up line. The collection of colour cosmetics will be released in Sephora stores on 9th August this year. Saying that, on the weekend of 19th July, Sephora are releasing a teaser range, making five of the 122-strong collection available for purchase.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty collection is split into four different categories. Blacquer is a collection of precision pen eyeliners, gel crayons and lash lifters. Smart Complexion is a group of concealers, powders and foundations. Hi-Per Colour follows up with some vibrant blushes, eye shadows, bronzers, lip products and nail lacquers. The final category heeds Jacobs’ desire to encourage androgyny in fashion and is aptly named Boy Tested, Girl Approved. It contains concealers, brow tamers and lip balm, aimed at both men and women.
The collection is bold and brave, aimed to help wearers ooze self-confidence and individuality. It’s also close to Jacobs himself, as the 16 shades of the LoveMarc gel lipsticks are named after his favourite movies, and some other product names take inspiration from his tattoos. Marc Jacobs Beauty is not about nude palettes or natural looks, it’s about unapologetic vibrancy. Prices range from £15 for lip balm to £38 for a seven-colour eye-shadow palette.
