Jewellery Week 2013: A shimmering ten-day event
No look is ever complete without accessorising to perfection, and for all you jewellery fans out there London Jewellery Week provides more than enough choice for sparkling up an outfit! From intriguing exhibitions to compelling talks, this was definitely a must-see for the jewellery enthusiast.
From 7th to 16th June, the grand Somerset House played host to a ten-day jewellery event for people to enjoy, shop and learn more about the jewellery industry. Treasure presented the largest public event at Jewellery Week by exhibiting 130 jewellery designers to more than 4,700 attendees and over 600 VIP guests. Visitors were offered the chance to view exquisite and unique pieces from a range of different designers, as well as listen to talks from people in the industry.
If that wasn’t enough Jewel East, the place to find new and upcoming design talent as well as exciting costume and vintage jewellery, displayed their third annual show at Old Spitalfields Market this year. In conjunction with the exhibitions the site also presented a selection of jewellery-making workshops for the more creative individuals formulated by notable London-based jewellery schools Holts Academy and Vannetta Seecharan Jewellery School. Numbers rose to as much as 28,000 visitors on day three of the event, highlighting the on-going success of London Jewellery Week.
Missed Jewellery Week? It’s not quite over yet as the winners of the Greenwich Gem of a pop-up shop Kristjan Eyjolfsson, Lili & Ida, Sian Bostwick and Maree London are still displaying their designs at the pop-up shop located at 7 Turnpin Lane, Greenwich, SE10 9JA, and if you want more of a way to get involved you can vote for your favourite “High Street Gem”. The competition is looking for the best dressed shop window and is open for anyone to apply who wants to be in with a chance to win a luxury overnight stay for two at the luxurious and lavish May Fair Hotel!
