Danielle Foster x Charlie May autumn/winter 2013 collaboration
British accessory designer Danielle Foster will soon be showcasing her fourth collection and for the autumn/winter 2013 line, and she has partnered up with fellow Brit and womenswear creator, Charlie May.
Danielle Foster has always offered beautifully minimalistic designs and advises that inspiration derives from 40s erotica and bondage as well as her equestrian background. The combination of the two collide in the accessory designers latest collection and the result is an explosion of strong pieces with buckled details, braided handles, dark leather and studded embellishments.
The work of Charlie May is also evident. The clothing designer, who also happens to run a wonderfully successful blog, was raised on a family farm in Devon and cites her home and the surroundings as inspiration for her pieces. Charlie’s garments often have an androgynous feel to them and in some way the landscape or her current environment will be injected into her designs; whether in the colours, textures or materials used.
This time round Charlie was inspired by volcanic scenery that includes ice, rock and fire. The dark red is a symbol of the fire, black leather is the rock and the PVC material represents the ice. This intense vision works brilliantly with Danielle’s bondage and torture inspiration and both their equestrian roots.
These two ladies clearly know fashion and their collaboration is one of the most versatile yet. The handbags, satchels and clutches are subtle enough to use for work but still offer a stylish gothic edge and the spiked jewellery is the perfect way to add a little erotica to a potentially vanilla outfit.
The collection, available from September, is more than Autumn ready so whether you after the burgundy pencil skirt, perspex satchel or black studded choker be ready to infuse a piece of the Foster/May collaboration into your wardrobe.
