What to pack in your beach bag this summer
It’s summer time again! So whether you’re jetting off to sunnier climates or braving the beaches in Britain, you’ll be planning your summer wardrobe. The choices out there are phenomenal, and really there is something for every shape, style and trend.
However, we’ve picked out pieces that will really make you stand out on the shore with bright and busy patterns, and glamorous embellishment in The Upcoming’s ultimate beach bag of goodies. From towels to sunglasses and bikinis to beach bags – and not forgetting that gadget you never knew you always needed – we’ve got the essentials covered.
Retro shapes in swimwear are huge this season, which is great news if you don’t want to bare all. Busy tropical prints on high-waisted bikini bottoms with halter-neck bras give you a fun twist on that oh so sexy, 50s screen-siren style.
Wayfarer styles, aviator frames or cat-eye shapes are all transformed by A-Morir with jewel embellishment, pearls, fringing and even lace. We love these exaggerated cat-eye shapes with little cat ears too and, of course, a lot of sparkle.
Beach bags needn’t be made of plaited straw or even in tote or shopper styles. Backpacks are so fashionable right now, so why not use one on the beach? Neon colours in aztec and navajo patterns, brightly coloured pompoms and patch pockets make these the cutest bags on the beach.
Don’t deny your inner child with a 90s throw back in the form of jelly shoes. Remember being too young to wear the heeled versions the first time around? Well now is your chance.
Look like a goddess in this gorgeous origami style kaftan from Religion made from delicate sheer fabric with kimono sleeves. Not only will it look fabulous on the beach, but also is the ideal day to evening piece. Add a pair of jewelled sandals and you’re ready for a night out.
Last but not least don’t forget your snorkel mask camera! How else will you snap those fish when diving? Maybe not the most attractive accessory but it has a certain geek-chic cool.
