Mother of Pearl Resort SS14 collection
The beautiful blend of fashion and art sees a bright, eye-catching and unique collection from fashion brand Mother of Pearl. The collection consists of colourful maxi skirts, tailored printed jackets and summery shift dresses.
Looking at the collection we are enthralled by an array of leopard print, bright orange, stripes and geometric shapes. The clothes are light and airy − ideal for summer − whilst the prints and striking colours provide a stand out, exotic edge. Feminine pink florals are combined with geometric print shirts to produce a ladylike yet sharp look, and smart jackets are worn over ensembles to create slick and clean lines contrasting with the eccentric print.
The prints were inspired by artistic duo Biggs and Collins who are known for their oil paintings based on light, colour and perception. The pair are influenced by looking at art from the past and their work comprises of intricate shapes entwined together. Their piece The Greater Light 2012 exhibits several small triangles in a variety of colours. This print can be seen on a buttoned up shirt-dress as part of the Mother of Pearl collection.
The Spring Summer ‘14 Resort collection highlights the ongoing and powerful collaboration between fashion and art. With an exciting mix of funky prints and electric colours paired with laidback silhouettes, Mother of Pearl is sure to have you summer-ready.
