Move over Boris bikes, there’s a far more stylish bike in town in the form of Pitango bikes.

The brainchild of three globetrotters with an eye and knowledge for great design, Pitango bikes were evolved from a love of riding and from an unusual bike spotted by on the street. While the bike itself turned out to be a stolen good, the bike played in the forefront of the designers mind, who used the inspiration to create a sleek and city-rider style bicycle, for those who use a bike to stylishly get around opposed to climbing mountains.

In a range of vivid shades from postbox reds to eccentric yellows, with even a black option added in for the less daring biker, every part of the bike can be accessorised in the colour of your choice. Pitango bikes enable you to choose not only the colour of you bike, however, but the style too. If you prefer curved handles to straight ones, you can simply edit the bicycle with a simple click. You can choose the gear levels, the frame size and even the seat type, ensuring that the bike suits all of your personal needs. While women often opt for the Dutch seat, men often favour the seat too, which has been trailed and revamped three times to reach optimum comfort.

While style is at the forefront of the minds of the designers, they also appreciate how important it is to protect your bikes from bike theft. This in mind, they created a video in which they stole their own bikes in front of the public – and even police – using extreme tools. After nobody stopped them from stealing them, they made it their mission to help protect bikes, and will soon be launching a range of bike locks which will minimize the likelihood of your bike being stolen – after all, with such great designs, you can see why people may get bike envy.
