Beach babe of the tropics channelled at Itsie Bitsie show
Last week the swimwear brand Itsie Bitsie held an event for bloggers and fashion press to showcase their delicious new range.
There was an interesting array on display from the outset. As we walked in a rail of silky kaftans caught out eye. Their beachy pastels and exotic yet subtle prints screamed just-bought-this-in-a-market-in-a-Greek-village. Some were teamed with pretty, tropical floral necklaces.
Then came the catwalk show. The bikinis, all worn with wedges, were quite a cut above your average; not too plain but definitely the right side of ostentatious.
There was a contrast between bold, block colour and hints of leopard print, along with frilly areas and miniature bows designed to both flatter the body and catch the eye.
According to their website, the brand was inspired by the colours and textures of Bali – “the Island of the Gods”. Their aim is “for every Itisie Bitsie woman to express herself with colour, move away from the comfort zone of blacks and greys and paint her wardrobe and herself”.
An interesting philosophy that definitely comes through in their products. Perfect if you’re looking for something chic and colourful to make you look good, whether lounging by the pool or frolicking in the waves, without looking too flash.
