Jacki Easlick: an artist not a designer
Some designers create a product solely for practicality. However, some designers create products that are more than just practical – they’re little pieces of art!
Jacki Easlick started her career after graduating at Gerber Baby Food where she designed all the promotional material for the Gerber Graduates line. She eventually went on to work at Kenneth Cole as a design director for the label. She has also designed for Stella McCartney, Elizabeth Arden, Target and Nike. It doesn’t stop there; Jacki has previously worked with a number of celebrities including Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff and Kim Kardashian. In 2010 Jacki was working for Vera Bradley but sadly became ill.
Whilst recovering, Jacki used her time to sketch, and it was these sketches that were to be the start of her own handbag line. “If I didn’t go through this situation, I wouldn’t have had the guts to go out on my own.” Her handbags may be simple, but Jacki’s attention to detail is what makes them. For example, this red mini satchel is a simple shape overall but the zip on the front, the buckle on the shoulder strap and the fabric make this bag beautiful.
If you love your big handbags then you will love the Hobo bag. Even this design has added oomph with the zip detail on the outside.
What inspires an artist like Jacki? “My inspiration comes from all things creative, which encompasses colours, shapes and texture. I studied art and design in college. I didn’t study fashion so I consider myself more of an artist than a designer.” And these handbags are a testament to Jacki’s artistic expertise.
