National Festival of Thrift launches
Calling all you vintage lovers, bloggers, thrifty and creative souls, we have one date for you that you sure as hell won’t want to miss this September. The launch of the first National Festival of Thrift, created by award-winning designers Wayne Hemingway MBE and Gerardine Hemingway MBE, taking place at Darlington’s Lingfield Point.
The festival will be a big celebration of all things chic, a creative collaboration of common-sense living, including things like upcycling, recycling and the joys of crafting in sustainable living. This sounds right up our street!
“Thrift is very close to our hearts,” stated Wayne Hemingway. “Along with many others, we are concerned about the disposable nature of society.”
The event will be a great chance to be innovative with thrifting, creating sustainable and interesting things that are unique to you and also helping the environment.
Taking place on 21st and 22nd September in a thrifted venue with both indoor and outdoor sites, as well as creating your own treasures the two days will also feature performances, exhibitions, market stalls and pop-up artworks.
So if you fancy a mini vacation brimming with creativity, new skills and meeting fresh faces, then this is the event for you. Also the event is completely free, which is in keeping with the theme and also more incentive for our thrifty selves to go along.
