Ada Zanditon: Raising conservation awareness one season at a time!
Ada Zanditon is raising awareness for the conservation of amazing animals and helping you to look fantastic one season at a time and we caught up with her to find out more about sustainable fashion and animal influences!
What makes your brand different?
I always go above and beyond to create elegant fashion that women love to wear and that they also feel good about. I make pieces that are woven into the wearer’s identity and connect people with their values – whether that is hand woven textiles that we make in the UK or my signature prints inspired by incredible animals and a desire to raise awareness of their conservation.
What influences your designs?
Nature, evolution and perspective. Humanity values its intelligence so highly yet we are the only species that are so needy when it comes to using resources. When I look at the incredible diversity of life around us and how it has adapted to living on this planet in balance with nature, it inspires me to revaluate the world and delve into it from another point of view.
How do you achieve sustainability?
It’s a discovery in progress. I don’t claim to be perfect but I try to continuously learn and evolve what I do. At the core is my design philosophy: I start with my inspiration and then I creatively research and mix that with other concepts to create fashion-led, ready to wear collections using organic, natural and upcycled materials and local manufacturing so that there is a balance of creativity, people and planet.
What’s been your favourite country to do a show in so far?
I’m so grateful for all of the opportunities I have had to show, I have no favourites. I am proud as an LCF graduate to be part of Estethica at London Fashion Week but also showing at Lavera Showfloor during Berlin Fashion Week and last year showing in Sri Lanka and Croatia – Alexis Knox who has styled these shows is amazing and I love working with her!
Have you had any major career highlights?
Many! Winning the Innovation award, dressing amazing people like Lily Cole, Karin Park, Rita Ora and Jameela Jamil, being stocked by stores such as Eigensinnig, Chic Freak, Sirona boutique, TCS and Yoox.com, launching a men’s brand Ada + Nik with Nik Thakkar and having VV Brown perform at our launch!
Is there anyone you’d love to work with?
You! No but really, everyone who is reading this has the opportunity to be involved with our latest film. An incredible team of talented people and I are working on a film for London Fashion Week this September and via a new platform, AudaCity Of Fashion, we are offering anyone the opportunity to be involved in the making of this film.
