British Fashion Council announces Rock Vault designers for S/S’14

The British Fashion Council has recently announced the names of the ten Rock Vault designers who will be showcasing their S/S’14 collections at the Designer Showrooms during this year’s London Fashion Week and we think they couldn’t have picked a better list of names.

Considering last season’s success, it’s no surprise that some of the chosen designers are already very familiar with the feeling of being picked.  Alice Cicolini, Fernando Jorge, Hannah Martin, Imogen Belfield, Jo Hayes Ward, Melanie Georgacopoulos, Tomasz Donocik and Yunus & Eliza have all previously had the honour of being named the BFC’s Rock Vault designers before, but there are some new faces too.  Jacqueline Cullen and Ornella Iannuzzi have both been given the coveted “Rock Vault designer” title this year and they can definitely stand shoulder to shoulder with the other designers.

While Cullen specialises in contemporary Whitby jet jewellery, Iannuzzi’s signature is a beautiful composition of colours and textures.  The signature styles of the other Rock Vault designers are as varied as they could possibly be.  Yunus & Eliza’s creations mean that the fashion, art and jewellery worlds are allowed to collide; Donocik aims to challenge ideas about self-adornment and reinterpret modernity; Georgacopoulos is reshaping the stereotypes of pearl jewellery and Belfield’s pieces are more like tiny, handmade rockesque sculptures than items of jewellery.

Last season’s Rock Vault designers were so successful that seven of them were given the unique opportunity to show their collections at Couture in Las Vegas that ran from 30^th May to 3^rd June.  The designers were invited to present their collections in the Stephen Webster ballroom to US press representatives and buyers during Couture’s duration that allowed them to gain important exposure in another country.
