Grab some Euro-chic from Betina Lou

Grab some Euro-chic from Betina Lou

Montreal-based Betina Lou has just launched its A/W 2013 collection.

The brand was begun by Eve-Marie Emond in 2009, its main principles being comfort and functionality. It promotes responsible consumerism by using locally based design teams and natural, good quality fabrics that will last and last.

It is little known outside of its native Canada – only stocked in shops there and in Hong Kong and America – but has received glowing international press reviews. She does the City has stated that the clothes “will make you feel like a European It-girl”.

It’s easy to see why. The collection evokes War-time France albeit with a dash of the 60s – shorter hemlines and a more modern shape. In a palette of black, brown, navy and cream, it’s pretty and ladylike; simple yet effective. A vast array of dresses, some are girly and childlike – in this case no bad thing – and others are grown up and modern, and can be accessorised with almost anything.

Checks are traditional and sharp but not too frumpy, so won’t leave you looking like your Gran. Berets and pussy bows add a sophisticated European touch. It is wholesome without sacrificing chic and sophistication.

Suitable for almost anything, whether its work or a trip to the pub. The best thing is that the pieces can be bought separately and still look good with the rest of your wardrobe… yet together they aren’t too overbearing. Definitely for you if you want something feminine and timeless that can be worn every day.
