NYFW S/S’14 – Mark and Estel collection: sexy and sheer
What started as a T-shirt line has evolved into a full blown edgy collection by Mark and Estel, an LA-based duo.
The show had dark elements with all-black looks with a hint of urban edge. Even the all-white look that we adored had a black, almost crown of thorn-like belt that gave the normally pure look an effortless edge that can’t be matched. The sheer piece celebrated a woman’s body which is much appreciated. It was daring and bold, as well as super versatile.
From evening gowns to futuristic looks, the Mark and Estel collection contained something for everyone. A lot of the pieces appeared simplistic, until you got down to the details. For fans of the minimalist chic look, you’d appreciate those elements for sure. The looks developed as the show went on. While the beginning was more edgy and urban, there started to be more glamorous looks waltzing down the runway. Stripes and billowy pants, flattering, asymmetrical shapes, pops of neon and city edge were abundant in this collection.
The show was an overall fun event. The duo sung the lyrics to their show’s opening song as they graciously thanked the patrons. We cannot wait until this collection hits stores!
