NYFW S/S’14 – Son Jung Wan collection: Moroccan escape
“This season I was inspired by Morocco and the romantic, picturesque, sun-drenched Sahara Desert. It is such a mysterious place where you can wander, get lost and find peace and beauty.”
The designer definitely lived up to his vision in this downright inspiring collection. Neutral tones, whites and splashes of orange and yellows danced down the runway at this noon showing of Son Jung Wan’s new collection. The energy of a Moroccan marketplace was in the room as models in structured, flirty dresses and versatile pieces flaunted down the runway. Everyone in the room surely held the same feeling of wanderlust watching this show, because it really takes you to a different space and frame of mind.
There was nothing too innovative about this collection, which would be our only gripe, but everything was beautiful and executed wonderfully. The models’ hair was pulled back into tight, voluminous ponytails with minimal make-up, showing the striking beauty of the women that got to sport these pieces. The men were in pieces that we could picture celebrities, such as pop singer Robin Thicke, wearing effortlessly.
Overall, it was a very cohesive and inspiring collection!
