LFW – Bernard Chandran S/S 2014 collection

Many gathered with their tickets, eager and excited to get into the Bernard Chandran show at Freemason’s Hall on the first day of London Fashion Week. Amazing is what we expected; amazing is what we got.

BBC 1 DJ, Jemma Cairney, sat front row at the show, where we were given the pleasure of viewing an assortment of outfits from Chandran. The main theme? Two-tone. It seems that satin fabrics, with a two-tone metallic effect were big on the designer’s mind for SS14, as nearly every individual look featured the effect.

Deep jewel tones were infused with greys and bronze, marking a regal yet futuristic shift in Chandran’s clothing style. Models were sent down the runway wearing headpieces and bindis, indicating that Chandran looked back to his Asian Malaysian roots, and even further to India for inspiration on his latest collection. Sophistication was also evidently clear in this collection, as every model wore her outfit with a confidence that comes with wearing a stunning piece.

Reds, golds and greens were the consistent colours, once again indicating that Indian roots played a big part in influencing the designer’s decisions. Pleats and structures featured greatly in creating the individual pieces, and dresses came in a variety of lengths from mini to maxi. Overall, the show was a royal affair, indeed.
