LFW – Ping He S/S 2014 collection: intricate simplicity
London-based designer Ping He’s spring/summer collection combines a clean monochrome colour palette with intricate detail and striking structural shapes to create a collection that stands out artistically and appeals to a wide audience.
Set against a white backdrop in the elegant Freemason’s Hall, Ping He’s designs shone. With little else to distract one’s eye from the clothes, Ping He ensured that the impressively intricate detailing found in many of the designs’ pleating, panelling and material combinations did not go unmissed.
Keeping the colour palette simple, tailored high-neck jackets, dresses and top/skirt combinations were brought to life with He’s use of leather detailing, sheer panels and anglaise broderie. Whilst the lines were kept clean and tailored, each design incorporated elements of the anglaise design, which contributed to the overall flow of the show and created a sense of fluidity.
Incorporating striking shapes for structured skirts and peplum-style tops with hints of sexiness in the leather and lacy elements of her dresses and skirts, the Ping He collection managed to pull off a demure type of sexiness that appeals to young and old alike. With billowing trousers, structured skirts, flowing maxi dresses and panelled dresses and tops, Ping He has truly shown the artistic talent that was nurtured at Alexander McQueen and is in full flow for spring/summer 2014.
