LFW – Mark Fast S/S 2014 collection

Mark Fast’s spring/summer collection was “woven from memories of trance, dance and night long romance”.  The Canadian-born knitwear designer presented us with cropped-tops and skimpy cut-out body-cons well suited for a raving night out.  The knits were form-fitting, intimately hugging the wearer at every curve and crevice.  

Through a technique of mixing elastomeric yarns with cotton and wool merino yarns,  Fast created never-been-seen textures and colours.  Regarding colour, the designer was inspired by the morning skies that come after a night of partying.  Deep turquoises were scattered throughout the mainly monochromatic palette, while pops of electric yellow captured the energy of the youth. 

Accessories  were kept strictly 90s and included jet black Lennon shades, frisky patent leather gloves and matching platform wedges.  The collection stood on its own two feet sans hair and make-up, but as per usual, it just wouldn’t have been the same without it.  Overly teased hair, black lips and heavy eye-liner complemented the cobweb-like knits and completed the gothic-chic look.  Mark closed the show with a beautifully elegant floor-sweeping fringe.
