LFW – Pringle of Scotland S/S 2014 collection
Pringle of Scotland showcased their spring/summer 2014 collection at the prestigious Connaught Hotel in a presentation that was equal parts elegance and innovation.
Pringle is considered a brand of choice among members of fashion royalty including the likes of Grace Kelly and Brigitte Bardot, so rubbing shoulders with some of fashion’s elite while being served complimentary champagne felt fittingly luxe. The models stood atop a mirrored platform that bordered the room, creating a visual spectacular for all in attendance. The set-up was intimate and encouraged ambulation around the premises for a chance to get up close and personal with the collection.
The brand created a modern interpretation of its iconic argyle pattern by featuring the geometric shapes in bold hues of orange and blue and orangey-reds. With the structure of contour fabrics and the ease of knitwear, the brand explored a theme of opposites throughout. Garments where silk was paired with knitted jersey toyed with this idea of juxtaposition, creating innovative looks in unexpected silhouettes. Knee-length hems and ankle-cropped trousers emphasised modesty, while the jersey netting gave the collection a pleasant edge.
The brand’s history of pushing boundaries came to fruition with this spring/summer 2014 womenswear collection. Tilda Swinton was recently named ambassador of Pringle, humanising the brand’s edgy-luxe persona.
