LFW – Fashion International’s multi-designer runway show at The Betjeman Suite

With so many big names dominating LFW, it is refreshing to see some bright, new talent emerging amongst established designers. The Upcoming attended Fashion International, which showcased five fresh and innovative designers to the SS14 scene.

First up was Gianni Lilliu. The young Sardinian designer, who is well known in his native country, marked his way into the British fashion scene – launching a spectacular show.  He set the night on a high tone, with creams cascaded down the runway, slowly broken up by a rainbow of golds and blues, and concluding with a dash of black. His collection was demure, finely cut and epitomised classic evening wear.  We got the opportunity to speak to the talented creative, who explained his passion for fashion and design has always been a part of him. When asked to sum up his collection in three words his response was “feminine, elegant and amazing”. No doubt we will be seeing more of Gianni…watch this space.

Next up was a colourful array of designs from Dee Duce. Splendid colours unravelled as her designs trickled through the Betjeman Suite. A mix of flowing chiffon, sensuous satins and luxurious lace tranced viewers. Models stepped to the floor with masquerade masks adding drama to the line. The Dee Duce label is made exclusively in London and available in limited numbers to distinguished buyers.

Luna Sky continued the evening, presenting a line of pure and sparkling whites. Following the show she told The Upcoming her designs are influenced by Audrey Hepburn and she aims to deliver a classy collection. Her collection declared an ethereal and fairy-tale scene with her signature twinkling beads adorning many pieces.

House of Mobe, designed by three best friends Paulina Adeniran, Nancie Sam- Amoyie and Jahnet Soname stormed onto the scene with an assortment of oranges, creams and a splash of burgundy. The label used structured cuts with varying fabrics including leather to create a striking panelled effect. House of Mobe just launched in 2012 and seemingly great things lay before them.

Finally Omar Mansoor, a Pakistani designer known for his couture occasion wear closed the multi-brand show. A palette of blue flooded through the suite showcasing a range of stylish pieces.  There was a strong Eastern essence running through his collection, which blended beautifully with some of the more Western styled garments. His use of lace throughout the line augmented a sultry impression to the operatic influenced collection.

The evening closed with a champagne reception allowing designers and models to mingle with guests – a fantastic end to an impressive show.
