Sparkle in 1920s style: flapper dresses from Miss Selfridge
This party season Miss Selfridge will be releasing five stunning vintage-inspired flapper style dresses for you to dance the night away in.
The collection is inspired by 1920s dresses found in the design archives sourced from vintage fairs in New York, London and Paris by the brand’s creative director Yasmin Yusuf.
“The 1920’s pieces are always my favourite finds. Every detail is simply stunning from the heavy bead work, sparkly fabrics, cut and colours. It’s almost impossible to find these dresses in good condition, as they are nearly a hundred years old,” says Yusuf.
However, Miss Selfridge has been lucky enough to collect a range of beautiful dresses in different styles to rework for its limited edition flapper range.
Five sparkling dresses will be released in time for the party season, which is just around the corner. Each dress stays true to flapper heritage with details being taken from the original pieces. The dresses are each hand-beaded and include features typical of the period such as beaded fringing, low open backs and drop waists.
Geometric patterns are created with delicate beaded lines in gold tones on a scarlet red dress, whilst a nude-coloured dress is decorated with sequined flower designs. A salmon pink dress sparkles with arrow-shaped points that give a stunning zigzag hemline.
Only 200 dresses have been made of each design, with prices starting from £150.
“We are pleased that our customers can now enjoy a piece of our archive at an affordable price,” Yusuf says.
