Experience the life of a fashion icon at Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!
Somerset House is well known for its relationship with fashion and its newest exhibition is definitely not to be missed. Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore! is being shown in partnership with the Isabella Blow Foundation and Central Saint Martins, and celebrates the life of the iconic fashion and art patron.
Isabella began her career at US Vogue before moving on to Tatler, British Vogue and the Sunday Times Style, and is credited with discovering models such as Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant.
Also known for her collaborations with photographers such as David LaChapelle, Sean Ellis and Steven Meisel, Isabella managed to build one of the most important private collections of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The collection is now owned by Daphne Guinness and features pieces from designers like Julien Macdonald and Alexander McQueen – talents that Isabella not only discovered but helped to launch.
Inspired by the fact that she always pushed herself to break boundaries in life, the exhibition also breaks conventions and includes installations by Shona Heath.
The exhibition will cover Isabella’s background, work life, personal style and legacy to name just a few topics, and will be accompanied by a catalogue of newly commissioned photography of Isabella’s collection by Nick Knight.
The Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore! exhibition is set to run from November 2013 through to 2nd March 2014 in Embankment Galleries at Somerset House.
